Depersonalization and How to Regain Control
It came to me in a dream.

If you feel at this time that you lack control over the important aspects of your life, that what you do doesn’t matter so you decide to do nothing, then you may have lost your sense of identity or your sense of self and there is an emptiness where that solid foundation should be.
These experiences of depersonalization come from early development where we learn to deal with difficulty or trauma using the tactic of descending into our imagination and separating from ourselves. The strategy of a disappearing self can lead to issues surrounding schizoid psychosis, where the mind loses track of where the central being is: the self. After this occurs, we lose our minds and therefore lose our will to act, which can often lead to episodes of catatonia combined with intense fear or dread.
Personally, I’ve been struggling with this dread or despair on and off throughout my life when I feel I do not have control over my reality. This might be because I lack personal agency or because I don’t believe I can use whatever agency I have to take action. This leaves me powerless and depressed.
We must remind ourselves about what we care about and that we do have passionate opinions. This centers us back into the self that drives our actions. We need to let our emotions…
