Many of us are contentious about many topics and discussions because we have negative feelings about them. I decide for myself and then want to share what I have found out with others who might not wish to discuss it, even though they would be happier if they did hear me out.

Happiness is an ideal, and we all have to feel great often. We go about it in our ways, some of which are self-destructive. In any case, we all have the same goal: avoid plain chasing pleasure. In the short term, it might get us what we wish, but in the long term, when we have to speak for our actions and live with our decisions, we should have thought holistically.

I can tell you that right now, I am happy, and a few precepts come to mind:

  • Forgiveness — I am willing to see past a person’s mistakes to understand where they are coming from, especially if it is someone I have known for quite some time, and then forgive them and give them a calculated second chance. And since I’m willing to do this for others, I am also willing to do this for myself.
  • Pausing—I let myself take breaks, pause, and recharge whenever my energy levels are low so that I am kind to myself and also so that I can be kind and compassionate toward others. I…
